Authority Issue

I heard a message on this recently and it was so profound, I thought I would post as much as I can remember, or try to give it in its context with my wording.

We all have an Authority Issue; no exceptions, except Jesus. Why? He IS the AUTHORITY. How we came about having the issue was from Garden disobedience; ‘don’t eat of the tree of both good and evil.’ ‘If you do, you will die’. And we all will die at some point or be taken by the Lord in the very last of days. The Authority Issue was not just sin, it was that substance provided from eating of the tree; knowledge of good and evil, it gives us a mindset to think for ourselves what is good and what is evil. That alone is Gods call and we were not welcome to intrude. When we repent, we give back that which was taken, and return to God total sovereignty over our lives. Being filled with His Spirit [Holy Ghost] places us back in our dominion status and we simply/totally follow His lead. The AUTHORITY gave His Word, thus, we already have the interpretation; we are not allowed to give our own as to what we think it means. God’s AUTHORITY is sovereign, and needs no help from us, that was established in the garden when we were cast out. To have “Him” back in our lives can only be by total obedience. Case in point: if we deny this, we have an Authority Issue.

If we are truely following AUTHORITY [Jesus], then we have 100% instructions in scripture; He is His Word. That point alone is narrow in perception, but broad in our living for God; He has no boundries/we should have no boundries. That doesn’t give us a right to decide our dress, appearance, actions, works, and speech [all holiness issues dominated by the HOLY Ghost]. We don’t have a right to decide the Word means this or that, it was determined by the AUTHORITY and He reveals it to His chosen when we search the scriptures and couple it with prayer in the Spirit; that is how we can know the fruits of true saints and others alike. When man takes it upon himself to decide, we end up with decension and therefore over 33,000 religions claiming to be right with God. With the Authority Issue in play, we then have opinions of man on what is truth and that is ALWAYS wrong because we are not the AUTHORITY. We have a gross misconception in todays churchs; the Holy Ghost is not our help mate to do good; it is our total AUTHORITY. So many left their ’first love’ at the altar and walked away with the baggage they had packed over a lifetime; more comfortable with it than with Jesus in control. Without total honesty in our hearts, this message wont be worth a hill of beans; but it is nevertheless, God given truth.
Point being, if we are totally following Jesus Christ [AUTHORITY] we are in total unison in heart, soul, mind, and SPIRIT. We are in one mind, one accord, led by One God into one baptism, one faith, and one salvation and are in One church. [Eph. 4] These are facts we cannot dismiss with our authority issue; it was given back to God to decide what is good and evil and we must listen and heed. If we disagree with one another, we both should take the bible and pray God reveal; but the hard fact is, someone still wont accept it; for they are listening to the authority issue and not the AUTHORITY. [end message]

This preacher is a very small frame man of the most delicate nature [spirit] and so soft in his deliverance, that, he is so contrasting to his sermon. But, no one was walking out/in, doing other things of distraction; we were spell bound to the Word!! It wasn’t the least bit offensive, it was soul binding and profoundly felt in the Spirit to be truth and from God. I was completely sold on the idea I was wrong all these years thinking “I” had learned some things and as long as I heeded, I was alright. That is not walking after the Spirit, so, what is? Walking with God is being led of God; nothing is left out, nothing is left up to our mindset; He is AUTHORITY in even the smallest things. What am I talking about? We must allow the Holy Ghost to be our conscience and make our decisions accordingly. If we decide our steps in anything, we are still having an authority issue. Do we all have a true Holy Ghost conscience? [I was challenged beyond words, I no longer want to believe I am right on the ’issues’, I want the Holy Ghost to provide the answer.]

  • I agree with what you wrote, “The Holy Ghost is not our help mate to do good; The Holy Ghost is our total Authority.” It seems that this article has a part two…. or maybe part three… there is more to be expounded on here. For example, in your conclusion you write, “If we decide our steps in anything, we are still having an authority issue.” In my own life, I want to be assured that Jesus is in total control and not just my copilot.

  • Ah, you found me. You are so right there is more to this article that can be said. I welcome any thoughts you may have and we’ll post them here if you like? I am always ready for a discussion with a true saint of God; it is food to our souls to intertain
the Word and share the Lord with one another.
Bro. Edwards was the minister of this message and he also stated; if we don’t take care of the Authority Issue, we can’t move on with God. We simply cannot follow when we are taking control….I find that profound and so true!
